4th of July Cocktail

One of my go-to favorite cocktails is a variation of a Greyhound. Dawn Klohs of A’Marees boutique in Newport Beach first made this for me many years ago. It’s the store’s signature cocktail and ever since I had one at their gorgeous store on the water, I always order when dining out or making for friends at home.

To start, you can make fresh pink or white grapefruit juice or buy it fresh squeezed at your local market. Trader Joe’s also has a fresh pink grapefruit juice that is delicious. Tito’s Handmade Vodka is one of my favorites to use as it is really smooth with no aftertaste.

The secret and magic ingredient to this cocktail is St-Germain, a liqueur made from elderflower blossoms. This makes it extra special and each bottle, an art deco beauty, is numbered.

For your 4th of July guests, pour the fresh grapefruit juice over ice with a shot ( or two ) of Tito’s and top off with a splash of St. Germain, berries and mint. It is a really refreshing and delicious cocktail that works not only in summer, but year-round!

4th of July St-Germain Greyhound with a twist…

  • 1/2 cup fresh pink or white grapefruit juice
  • 1.5 ounces Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • Splash of St. Germain elderflower liqueur
  • Crushed ice
  • Garnish with blueberries, raspberries, and fresh mint

*** For a lighter calorie option, use ½ fresh juice and ½ sparkling water. For a garnish variation, eliminate the berries and put a sprig of fresh rosemary or mint only.
