Common Cold Preventative Tea

This time of year, sickness is flying around like nobody’s business. Between our toddlers in preschool passing things around, those of us in the workplace shaking hands and exchanging germs, it’s usually only a matter of time until someone is sneezing. Well…. not me. For real. I don’t get sick. After I say that, I’ll be sick next week, but let’s hope I don’t jinx myself.

This tea is quite the antidote to getting sick. I’m not exactly one that can easily stomach things that don’t taste like high fructose corn syrup ( lol, I kid, I kid… my sweet tooth has tainted my taste buds), however, if it will keep me from getting sick, I’ll plug my nose and get after it.

For those of you who are willing, this tea will save you from the sickies.

The recipe goes like this…

I N G R E D I E N T S

  • 6 cups of water
  • 2 whole lemons quartered. Squeeze lemons into 6 C water in pot
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks crushed up
  • 7-8 slices of fresh unpeeled ginger
  • 1 fresh lemongrass cut into 2” pieces, halving the thicker parts

Bring mixture to a boil and simmer for 8 mins.

Strain ingredients and set liquid aside. Add 1/4 C raw honey. Keep on the counter and heat as needed.

Take the remaining lemon ingredients & add 4-6 C more water & bring to boil again, simmer for 20 min. Repeat process. Discard ingredients and save the tea.
