Pack Like a Pro

Christina is a woman on the G-O and has been since the day we met almost 10 years ago! I’ve always admired women like her, for many reasons, but travel being in the heart of someone is so very special. There is a well-roundedness that comes from seeing the world and it’s people. That kind of perspective is invaluable. Christina is one of the most well-traveled women I’ve come to know, so these tips you can trust!

Bon Voyage…

Where are your top places in the world and why?

1. Portofino, Italy // it’s so beautiful and serene and the people are the best in this little seaside town.

2. Paris, France // it’s so rich with culture and inspiration it has the best combination of history and newness.

3. Tokyo, Japan // because it is so alive. it reminds me of NY.

4. Tavarua, Fiji // it’s a small heart shaped private island off the coast of mainland Fiji and it’s such an honor to be invited there and share all the island’s energy with friends and family.

Share with us your best packing tip:
Lay everything flat in your suitcase.. you can get more in, and it doesn’t wrinkle as much!

How do you make travel happen?
I just do. It’s essential for me. It’s one of the ways in which my growth happens, my mind expands and I become more knowledgeable and tolerable. It teaches you a lot, if you let it.

How far in advance do you book your trips?
Oh, I’m a last minute kind of gal. Unless you have to pre-book it, like Tavarua, i usually book a month out.

How do you choose your destination?
I go whereever the opportunity comes. For instance, I have to go to India in a couple of weeks, so I’ll take advantage of the fact that I will be there and plan something else nearby.

How do you shop for each excursion?
I don’t shop for trips… I shop ON trips. 🙂

What kind of luggage do you like the best?
I love my luggage from MUJI. The Japanese are impeccably organized, so they have lots of pouches and travel cases that go with it.

What does your plane ride look like – headphones, favorite snacks, what do you do on the plane?
Chaotic. But it’s organized chaos to me. I always bring my computer on the plane, in case i want to work.. two headphones, just in case one goes out on me… i always buy fashion magazines in the airport and my current book or audiobook. Altitude always makes me hungry, so I eat a lot while i’m flying! I’m a sucker for homemade beef jerky on flights.

Do you wash your face while flying?
No.. but I do constantly moisturize on the plane. I like to mix up my skincare, but right now, I’m loving Nature Bisse.

What do you drink on the plane?
Ice water… and a glass of wine if I want to take a nap.

Do you read books/magazines on the plane or are you a tv/movie kind of flyer?
I tend to do both. Sometimes, I’ll fly so much in a month, that I’ve already seen most of the movies, so I’ll read or work.

Best passport cover?
Vintage leather one…

Tips for traveling (in general)?
Be adaptable.

What’s your airport style like?
Usually jeans and a white button up with a scarf.

Favorite airports?
I love the airport in SF because it’s clean and they have a lot of shopping and eating options.. I also love the airports that have the massage places, it’s the best!
