Tales of Motherhood with TinaMarie Clark

It’s always insightful to watch how other mothers parent. We all have our own ways of doing things. We can learn so much from hearing about what works and what doesn’t work for others in the realm of parenthood. It’s similar to marriage, what works for some families doesn’t for others and that’s ok. When we are vulnerable enough to share with one another without fear of being judged that’s when the magic happens. We can accept and learn from each other when we come from the place that we are all trying and want to do our best especially when it comes to our little angels. Any advice or coming alongside of that can help is what we are here to facilitate because it’s a long, hard, tiring, rewarding, important job!

TinaMarie has some wonderful insight below. We particularly like what she has to say about watching her husband become a dad for the first time.

On a scale of 1- infinity, how great is being a MOM?!?!?!

I would say infinity…it’s truly endless love

What was the best and worst part about becoming a mom?

Best- Breastfeeding.

Worst- Recovering from a C-section.

What did you expect of motherhood and has it so far lived up to those expectations?

I was so afraid that my motherly instincts wouldn’t kick in and that I would want my old life back and now when I think of that it makes me smile. I was worried for nothing. Being a mom is beyond what I expected 10x.

What are your favorite parts of being a boy mom?

People always told me how much I'd love my child but no one told me how good it would feel to be "loved by them"! The way he looks at me makes my heart jiggle.

How do you handle having a toddler while being pregnant?

The hard part has been how tired I was my first trimester. I would have to nap every time he napped.

Where did you get Max's name?

Before my fiancé and I started dating, we were out to lunch and the baby name conversation came up and we both said we would name our boys Max...little did we know it would be our Maximus.

Where do you like to shop for him?

Zara

NuNuNu

Collective Child

What is your mom like?

Ugh the freaking best! I got so lucky getting her as my mom.

Do you think you are like her?

Yes, thank God:)

What is your best advice for moms?

Still take time to do your own internal work. It's the best gift to yourself, family and children.

How do you manage self-care while also having a toddler? How important is self-care?

I consider it to be a part of my role as a mom. I find it incredibly important and when I forget that my life and emotions show signs of me forgetting how important it is. It's actually shows up pretty fast.

How do you like raising a baby in the city?

I love it but I'm sure it will become hard when we are considering schools.

When are you due? What are you looking forward to with the new baby?

March 24th! I love my little tribe and it's so cool that we get to add another member. It still shocks me that I have my own family.

How do you manage to keep your marriage healthy while balancing parenthood?

Remembering, I am way more effective when I am in my feminine role energetically when communicating with my fiancé.

Any other insight you'd like to share?

I remember it being really hard for the first 4 months mentally towards David. Hormones were raging and I was so judgmental on how David should be acting and engaging with Max. I was watching his every move trying to access his skills of being a dad (worst idea ever). I was so angry that he wasn't as excited and involved as I was with the baby. I remember calling my mom and asking her "Mom, please tell me you wanted to leave Dad after you had Grace and Brianna"? She said "no honey I didn't want to leave him... I wanted him to leave this world". Hahaha. I instantly felt relieved because I knew how much I loved him and how much love he had to offer ... I just needed to be patient. Life doesn't always show up the way you expect but it always works out the way it needs to. Now looking back at my fears it actually makes me sad that I even questioned him for a second. He is super dad and amazes me on the daily with his love for Max and our family. I regret not being able to hold space for him as he came into his role as a father. I will not be doing that next time.
