Velvet is Queen of Fall

The trend we love that is continuing into the Fall ’17 season is Velvet!

What girl doesn’t love a gorgeous velvet?  We are 100% on board for the continuing trend of velvet on shoes as it has been in gear since Spring!  It’s a nice departure from the traditional leathers and suedes we are used to.  Velvet colors range from rich jewel tones to delicate blushes and the added embellishments of rhinestones, straps and gold buckles add to the details.

While it seems that a velvet shoe would be best saved for nighttime, there are actually plenty of styles that can be worn in daytime!  Throw on these cute Adidas slides after yoga or your workout, add a Venetian slipper by Fifi Venezia or a velvet bow tied flat like this Rebecca Minkoff slide to some cute cropped jeans or daytime dresses and you don’t have to wait for full blown fall weather.  These blue velvet Gucci loafers would look amazing with denim as well.  We can’t stop thinking about these Prada double band sandals in dark navy and red velvet. With the heavy gold buckle they are just the answer to dress up your favorite look.

Velvet boots are everywhere and we especially love the Saint Laurent black Lou Lou boots — these will never go out of style, velvet or not, which makes the investment worthwhile.  If you don’t want to break the bank, these Sam Edelman ankle boots look great with skirts or jeans and the Steve Madden black boots have a slim ankle, are really versatile and can be worn day or night.

For nighttime, the glamour ante is upped with the velvet heel selections.  We love these Manolo Blahnik ankle strap heels in dark taupe, which is a great substitute for black, or these black Gianvito Rossi velvet and satin bow tied heelsThese claret colored sling-back pumps from Rupert Sanderson add an extra detail than the basic pump and the color is perfect going into the upcoming holidays.  Yes, upcoming is right!
