Mother’s Day Sunset Soiree

Being a mom is hard work and it was important to me that we celebrate *each other* for Mother’s Day.

This particular group of moms are stand-outs. Most of us have children at the same preschool – which is wonderful because we genuinely appreciate one another as women in addition to being moms together. Others of us are old friends and a few new faces are very clearly excellent mothers and are the type I very much appreciate. These women are also uniquely creative which brings an element of such FUN.

In attendance, clothing designer, Laura Vassar of Brock Collection, dressed several of us for the evening. So special to experience the night in a beautiful dress made by one of our very own. Aileen Kruidenier provided the fare from her catering company, Eilos Kitchen. The meal was beautiful with the highest level of integrity and nothing short of delicious. Jacquelyn Kazas created a gorgeous tablescape and design to the evening. She is exceptionally talented. Alison Bernier captured every moment of the evening with ease and grace and produced excellent photographs as you can see. Diane Hurst, who is a second mother to me, provided her home on Bay Island as our backdrop. I felt proud to watch it all come together, each of us playing our part to create an elegant and meaningful evening.

The women arrived on foot across a magical bridge to Bay Island, a very special place. Greeted by rose from sommelier team, Argaux and set to the tune of a custom playlist on our stelle smart pillar, the evening began on a relaxing note. We all enjoyed each other’s company in the flower garden on the water at dusk.

We made our way to the other side of the island for dinner. We sat to a gorgeous tablescape against the prettiest backdrop of sailboats and yachts passing.

I gave a meaningful toast about all that it means to be a mother and affirmed our group.

Chef Cathy began to plate the gluten free, organic, paleo courses and as the meal began she explained to us the ingredients and how each bite was locally sourced even as recent as that morning. The sommeliers followed with specific, organic, natural and biodynamic wine pairings all evening long.

Each of the moms received an Apolis market bag from Alchemy Works stuffed with amazing gifts that we kindly dubbed “The Motherlode”. No Mother’s Day is complete without presents. We deserve them and these are gifts we all actually wanted. Sunglasses from SALT. Optics, chic MIKOH Swimwear cover-ups, portable speakers from stelle audio, essential oils from CAMPO Beauty, hair products from Gloss Moderne, highlighter from ILIA Cosmetics, Smith & Cult lip gloss from Holiday Salon and jewelry from Shop G2G. We do not mess around.

I, for one, will remember this night as a very special one indeed. It is not lost on me the value of having quality women surrounding me and my children. I feel grateful that my work and pleasure intersect like they do. The opportunity to provide experiences like this for the women who are so special is a real gift.
