Scarlett’s My Little Pony Party

This year, I was really tired and didn’t want to throw a big hoorah party. I really didn’t. As time came closer though, I realized that these years are so fleeting and pretty soon I won’t have the opportunity to go all out because she’ll be cool and in middle school like my son and you know what, we only get today to live so…. I took a sharp turn from mellow back into party land.

I couldn’t let the theme of My Little Pony go – partly because I had a My Little Pony party when I was her age so it was nostalgic and also because I knew the potential cuteness that could come from a super girly glittery rainbow and stars kind of theme. It’s also really fun to take super cheesy commercial terrible themes that come like a party in a box from Party City and make them tasteful.

Of course I called my girlfriends at Beijos to help me. I really needed help bc I whipped this whole thing together in less than two weeks.

Luckily, I’d asked Alison to shoot her bday long before I knew it was going to be an extravaganza. She captured all the fun details as you can see. She is the best. I just love her photos every time.

This age is particularly cute. 3 + 4 year old little girls really don’t get much cuter. They are starting to grow up now and I love to watch them interact.

We decided to have a pool party because Scarlett is obsessed with going to the pool. We recently moved from the beach to suburbia so having a pool feels much more manageable to her versus the ocean that she’s used to. We got tons of blow up rafts full of glitter that sparkled on the water and everyone played and ate and hung out to the tune of pop music on our favorite speaker from Stellé Audio… click here to hear our playlist.

We had a glitter/ tattoo/ makeup/ hair station, an arts and crafts table where they decorated a letter that their name starts with using pom poms and glitter and we also had a denim customization bar where an artist (Jo Allen) did custom stenciling of astrological signs, symbols, emojis and of course glitter. The girls all got matching pink and white striped towels and of course a swipe up and down glitter pouch filled with lip gloss, nail polish, glitter, my little pony figurines and I can’t even remember what else lol but it was good stuff.

The party hadn’t been going for more than 5 minutes before Scarlett was in the pool lol. She was living that day let me tell you. If you could have seen the makeovers that were happening you would have really been proud. I’m pretty sure the girls had fun. #understatement

The moms hung around the charcuterie and rosé and you can see why. Tablo Laguna created such a pretty spread that was so appropriate for a warm day by the pool. Healthy and beautifully styled, I highly recommend Tablo.

I know that these memories will be sweeter with time. Last year was my first foray into this world of extravagant parties. They take a lot of time energy and resources but when I looked back on my year, the parties definitely stood out as highlights. I’m so grateful to have these photos and memories made with our friends and our children and their friends… because like I said, pretty soon, the My Little Pony party stage will be over and I won’t be sad because I soaked every second up and have pictures to prove it.

As we wrapped up the remains of the party, Scarlett looked at me and said “what should our theme be for next year mom”?! :)))

Happy Birthday my little pony, Scarlett Sparkle!!
